Why the printed images are fuzzy？
When you find the printed images are fuzzy, it might be caused by the reasons below：
A. Used low-quality ink ribbon or the ink ribbon has passed the period of validity, please install new high-quality ink ribbon.
B. Used low-quality label paper, lower the transfer printing ability of the ink ribbon, please change to high-quality label paper and test printing again.
C. Temperature setting is too low, the carbon layer of the ink ribbon is not completely transfer printed, please increase the temperature and do the setting again.
D. The printing head is dirty or the position is not correct. Please use cotton balls with alcohol to clean the printing head or re-adjust the position of the head.
Why the printer cannot print ?
During the printing, if the print command is sent, but there is no response from the printer, it might be caused by the reasons below:
A. Printing port selection or setting error, please check the setting of the port again. Check if the setting of the communication parameters of the printer is in consort with the printing software.
B. Observe the indicating LEDs of the panel to check if the “PAUSE” and “RIBBON/PAPER”LEDs are on or not. If they are on, please check the label paper, ink ribbon and the detector head, and push “FEED” key to try to fix this problem.
C. If after the printing command is sent, the printer begins to operate, but the ribbon and label paper don’t move, it should be mechanical problem, please contact the supplier.
During the process of printing, the printer reports error message suddenly.
During the process of printing, the printer suddenly reports error message, “PAUSE” and “RIBBON/PAPER”LEDs are on. The reasons might be:
A.Used inappropriate printer driver, please contact the supplier and install the correct printer driver.
B. Some setting of the printer driver does not comply with the setting of the printer, error will happen.
C. Ink ribbon, label paper or detector head have problem, please check one by one.
How to test the quality of the printing head？
When the printing head is used for a certain period of time, sometimes we need to check if the printing head is worn or burned during the printing by printing a self-check label. If the matrix image on the self-check label shows stripes and there is no paper scrap on the printing head, it’s a high possibility that the printing head is already damaged. Take PRODIGY MAX as an example, the self-check process is like below：
Turn off the power of the printer, install the label paper, ink ribbon and keep pushing the “FEED”key , at the same time turn on the power. You should keep pushing the “FEED”key until the label is moved out of the barcode printer. And then the self-check label will be printed out.

Q：How many categories of barcode scanners do we have?
A：We have CCD scanner and laser scanner, 2 categories.
Q：The characteristics of CCD Scanner
A：Low price, low grade product. The scanning depth of field of is short. Main manufacturers are in Taiwan. Can identify China postal codes directly. There is one type of long distance CCD can solve the short depth of field problem, but the price is higher, between the price of normal CCD and laser scanner.
Q：The characteristics of laser scanner
A：High scanning speed, long scanning depth of field. The main manufacturers are in USA. Low bit error rate. Wide varieties of types and models to fulfill different demands. The types include gun-type, platform-type, suspension-type and so on. Medium and high grade products.
Q：Connection types of scanner
A：Keyboard interface, Serial connection, USB connection
Keyboard interface ∶The data from the scanning is inputted into computer through keyboard interface directly. The advantages of this method is : no need for printer driver, OS-irrelevant, can be used in all kinds of operating systems directly, no need for additional power supply.
Serial connection ∶The data from the scanning is inputted into computer through serial ports, need driver or direct reading of serial port data, need additional power supply.
USB connection∶The data from the scanning is inputted into computer through USB ports, need driver in some case, no need for additional power supply.
Q：About China postal code
A：CCD scanner produced in Taiwan can identify China postal codes, the laser scanners need to be customized to be able to identify this special code system.
Q：Some reasons cause the barcode cannot be read successfully.
A：1)The function to identify this kind of barcode is not turned on.
2) The barcode is not a standard barcode, for example, lack of necessary blank, the contrast between the bar and the blank is too low, the width proportion between the bar and the blank is not appropriate.
3) Due to the direct sunlight , the sensor component is in the saturation status.
4) The barcode is covered by transparent material, which causes the high reflection to prevent the collector identifying the barcode , although we can identify the barcode by eyeball.
5) Hardware problem, please contact your dealer to arrange maintenance.
Q：On laptop computers, the scanner with keyboard interface does not work correctly, or the scanner can work but the keyboard does not work.
A：On laptop computers, the scanner with keyboard interface is like a external keyboard.
If the keyboard interface of a laptop computer is connected with a external keyboard, some changes might happen:
1) The original keyboard becomes disabled. In this situation, the scanner will work OK and the keyboard won’t work.
2) The original keyboard of the laptop computer works OK but the external keyboard can not work. In this case, the scanner cannot work.
The solutions∶
1) Set the BIOS automatically to enable the external keyboard.
2) Connect the keyboard interface scanner with the laptop
3) The scanner is connected with a external keyboard.
4) Or, you can choose serial connection or USB connection scanners.
Q：After reading a barcode , the scanner system halted
A：Because of the self-protection function of the scanner, if the transfer error of scanned barcode data happens, the scanner will enter the status of self-protection to prevent the data from losing. If you successfully read the un-transferred data afterwards, the scanner can be used again. If this problem happens, please check the connecting wires and connecting protocols carefully. Make sure everything is OK, then turn off and turn on the scanner again. The problem will be fixed.
Q：What kind of scanner should I choose?
A：CCD scanners are often used in the situation that the funding is limited and scanning quality requirements are not so high. Like small supermarkets.
Gun-type laser scanners have moderate price with high scanning speed, high accuracy, can be used in comparatively high requirement situation.
Platform-type laser scanners have higher price than gun-type, and is very easy to use. It is usually used in the situation that requires high speed and high accuracy, like large supermarkets.
The price of suspension-type laser scanners is very high, usually used in industrial fields.
Q：The scanner has no power
A：1)The connection with the power supply is bad.
2) The fuse is melted
3) The power circuit of the scanner has problem.
Q：How to do the setting for barcode scanning equipment
A：Usually, all setting is completed and the scanner can be used immediately. If it is not, you can do the setting following the steps below:
1 Initialization: Set All Default。Basically you can start to use the scanner after this initialization. But you may need to do more settings:
2 Adding a suffix: Enter
3 Do the setting with the identified barcode.
4 If it is serial connection scanner, you need to set the RS232 port according to the corresponding port in your computer, like transfer rate, parity bit, and so on.
5 If it is serial connection scanner, for the computer, you need to run the printer driver for the corresponding port.

Q. What is a data collector?
A：Data collector is a kind of automatic equipment with real time onsite data collecting and processing functions. It ensures the accuracy, effectiveness, real time and applicability for the onsite data.
Q. Types of data collector
A：IC card data collector, barcode data collector, IC card barcode data collector.
Q. Why should we use data collector?
A：In many companies, the data collecting in every data related process is almost totally based on manual operations. It takes a lot of time and workload, and is very easy to make mistakes. For example: In the process of warehouse operation management, daily operations like stock in , stock out, shipment, inventory are performed manually. Lots of complicated tables need to be filled in, lots of duplicated data need to be inputted, this increases the workload and it is very easy to make mistakes. The efficiency is low. To solve this problem, many companies will introduce a set of computer management system. But they soon find that it only solves half of the problem. That is because the computer support can only be implemented in the working place where we can set up a computer. In some part of the operations, there is no way to put a computer in it, we still need to manually collect the data by hand. Even the computer can solve the problem of part of manual data collecting, it can not change the situation that large amount of data on printed tables still need to be re-inputted in the next point of operation. With data collectors, in all the operations which require data collecting, the data can be collected automatically, so we can avoid the duplicated data input problem.
Q. How to use data collector correctly ?
A：1．Avoiding sudden falling, crashing and squeezing, staying away from strong magnetic field.
2．Keeping away from moisture
3．Keeping the external objects away form the communication port.
4．When the battery is low, the machine will show a sign, you should recharge it in time.
5．When the user program can work correctly, please reset the system program and application program.
6．Do not disassemble the equipment by yourself, if any problem, please contact the manufacturer.
Q. Which kind of data collector should I choose?
A：According to your demands, choose corresponding equipments.
Q. How to use the data collector
A：After you get the data collector, you should develop your own program according to the demand of your department, and train the user to use the data collector correctly.
Q. About the transfer between data collector and your computer
A：Use X-MODEM protocol, serial port, default 9600 baud rate.

A：There are a few possibilities.
1)The function to identify this kind of barcode is not turned on.

Q. How to recharge correctly?
A：Due to the self protect function of the collector , if the power is run out, the collector will be not able to be recharged. So you should recharge the collector as soon as the lack of power alert is prompted.
Q. What should I do if the collector can not be recharged?
A：First, please avoid this situation as possible as you can. If it happens, please take out the battery and use the charger to recharge. If the recharge still fails, you have to change the battery. Please contact your dealer to confirm the correct model, to avoid the unnecessary damage.
Q. During the programming, the screen variable changes, but the screen display remains unchanged.
A：Most of the case is the “refresh screen”command is not used. You must use the “refresh screen”command to show the change on the screen.
